A month passes by, and the owner begins to disappear frequently, only to return irritable. Shannon worries about the owner and decides to follow him. She then finds out that he is second in command to a violent organization that favors in discrimination against race, sexuality, etc.. Shannon is angry to discover this, and she tries to convince the owner to leave the group and see things her way. He refuses and tries to bring her over to his side. Shannon then realizes that her father is more radical than her mother and moves out of his apartment. She once again finds herself homeless.
